Kitten Visits

Kittens are typically given a series of 2-3 immunizations depending on lifestyle (indoor vs. outdoor), and where they were obtained (rescue, shelter, feral, or from a breeder).

  • 1st veterinary visit (6-9 weeks)

    • 1st FVRCP

    • Feline leukemia blood test

    • Fecal examination for intestinal parasites

    • Deworming with Pyrantel

  • 2nd veterinary visit (10-14 weeks)

    • 2nd FVRCP

    • 1st Feline Leukemia vaccine (if going outdoors)

  • 3rd veterinary visit (12-16 weeks)

    • Rabies 1 yr. vaccine

    • 3rd FVRCP

    • 2nd Feline Leukemia vaccine (if going outdoors)

  • Sterilization Procedures

All male and female cats should be neutered and spayed between 6-8 months of age.

  • Declawing Procedures

At Baylis Animal Hospital we feel strongly that declawing can be done in the most humane way when performed in small kittens from 3-6 pounds of body weight (usually 3-6 months of age). When kittens become larger they have much higher risk of complications including personality change, chronic pain, excess bleeding and infection. We strongly discourage all owners NOT to pursue declaw in cats older than 1 year of age. When performed at the appropriate age, with a good combination of anesthesia, pain relief, and good surgical technique, indoor only kittens can do quite well with a declaw procedure.
